Pulse Survey
Answer in a Slack DM. See how each department is doing — anonymously
On a schedule you choose, such as once a week, OpenHR sends 3–5 questions in a Slack DM, answered with buttons and a modal. Results are aggregated anonymously by department, and AI summarizes free-text answers into “next steps” for managers.
When you need it
- An annual survey notices changes in your organization too late
- People hold back unless they know their answers are anonymous
- Nobody has time to read every free-text answer, so the results go unused

How it works
When someone answers in a Slack DM, the answer and who answered are stored separately. Results are aggregated by department, and any group with fewer than 5 respondents shows neither numbers nor summaries and is rolled up into its parent department.
What it does
- Answer in a Slack DM
- People answer with buttons and a modal. The day before the deadline, you can remind anyone who hasn't answered a single question yet.
- Question library and custom questions
- Pick from a library of engagement and well-being questions, or add your own.
- Results and trends by department
- Results are aggregated by the departments in your employee directory. Admins see the whole company and every department; managers see their own department and those below it.
- AI summaries of free text, with next steps
- Free-text answers themselves never appear in the app or the API. AI summarizes them and suggests next steps for managers.
Our commitments
- Aggregated anonymously
- Answers carry neither who answered nor when. Who answered and what they answered are stored separately.
- Nothing is shown for groups under 5
- For any group with fewer than 5 respondents, neither numbers nor summaries are shown; the group is rolled up into its parent department.
